Jan. 27, 2009
Dear friends and neighbors,
I know it has not been
long since my last update to you, but I want you to know
about several important hearings coming up on Thursday.
Last week, I was appointed
to the
Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. The
work of this committee is very important to you and to
me. I have sponsored several proposals that deal with
water relinquishment, crop rotation and water use. This
week, the committee will have what we're calling "Water
Week."
On Thursday, Jan. 29 at 8
a.m. the following bills will be discussed:
House Bill 1091: limiting stock watering
House Bill 1179: requiring a permit for using
groundwater for watering a lawn
House Bill 1266: sufficient cause for the non-use of
water
House Bill 1267: addressing non-use of water
House Bill 1268: prevents water relinquishment if
water right holder uses a portion of right
House Bill 1269: defining crop rotation
House Bill 1334: Columbia & Snake water resource
management
House Bill 1489: regarding water resource management
I encourage you to come to
Olympia and testify if you can. You can also send your
comments to me and I will get them to the chair of the
committee.
Please feel free to call
or
e-mail me. My contact information
is at the top.
