Online Survey – Tell Us What You Think! My
seatmate, Rep. Hinkle, and I have created an online
survey we’d like you to participate in. The survey will
only take a few minutes of your time and the results
will help us better understand the needs of our district
and the issues that are important to you. To participate
in this survey,
click here. We’ll report the results back to you
in the weeks to come. Thank you.
Proposals You May Be Interested In:
-
House Bill 1232: Rep. Bill Hinkle and I are
proposing to add horse boarders to the list of
agricultural businesses that provide for the open
space program, allowing property tax relief. Some
horse boarders recently received notices they owed
large bills of 'back taxes' for their property, when
all along they thought they had exemption as horse
boarders. This clarifies the law to make sure horse
boarders do receive the exemption.
-
Water bills: House
Bills
1266,
1268,
1269 and
1334 address water issues such as crop rotation,
'use it or lose it' law, and Columbia Basin water
use. I will keep you informed of public hearings and
committee or floor votes on these bills. You can
also follow them by checking their pages for action.
-
House Bill 1013: Would protect all
students from sexual predators, including 18-year
olds. I strongly support this legislation, which was
created after recent court cases were thrown out
because students were not 'minors.'
-
Senate Bill 5104: Although this bill is titled
"providing fiscal reform," it really proposes a
state income tax.
I hope this e-newsletter
will keep you informed about the issues facing the
Legislature and our district. My goal is to keep you
updated on legislation as it goes through the process
and encourage your involvement in the process. Please
feel free to call or
e-mail me. My contact information
is at the top.

District State Representative
