16th District legislators support public works
projects
More than $10 million secured in financing
Rep.
Bill Grant, D-Walla Walla, and
Rep. Maureen Walsh, R-Walla Walla, today
voted in favor of making financing available for two important
projects in College Place and Kennewick.
More than $10 million will be
loaned to the cities through the Public Works Trust Fund. The money will
be used to upgrade water and sewer systems that will cost the cities a
combined total of $12 million.
"The Public Works Trust Fund is a
great tool that state government can use to help local governments meet
specific needs in many of our communities around the state," Walsh
said.
"The public works upgrades these
funds provide will help keep our communities safe and healthy as they
continue to grow," Grant said.

financing allocated to the respective cities for their projects:

Public Works Trust Fund
City of College Place
2005 water system improvement project $4,710,051
City of Kennewick
Wastewater treatment plant upgrades
$5,500,000
The Public Works Trust Fund was created by
the Legislature in 1985 to administer financing for critical public
works projects around the state.
