Walsh named Assistant Republican Floor Leader

Rep. Maureen Walsh, R-Walla Walla, today was elected Assistant Republican Floor Leader by her Republican colleagues in the state House of Representatives.

As Assistant Floor Leader, Walsh will be responsible for assisting the Floor Leader, Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Sunnyside, to develop and implement floor strategy during Legislative debate. In addition, she will be a member of the leadership team that sets legislative priorities and creates a plan to adopt policies supported by the caucus.

“I’m honored to be elected to our Republican leadership team,” Walsh said. “I'm entering my 16th working year in the House. I’ve been here when the Republicans held a huge majority, when the Democrats and Republicans shared control, and now when our caucus is in the minority.  I look forward to working with my caucus members to assure that Republicans have a voice in the process, and also working together with members of both parties to pass good policy in the best interest of our great state."

Walsh also serves on the Appropriations Committee, Early Learning and Children's Services Committee and Human Services Committee.
