Thanks for visiting my Web site. It's a
great honor to serve a third term as your 16th District state
representative. I spend a lot of time listening to constituents about
the needs of our communities. This important feedback helps me refine my
priorities as your state representative, including:
- Creating and preserving jobs;
- Working to help empower parents to
be their kids first teachers and getting kids prepared to
successfully enter kindergarten:
- Addressing agricultural and water
needs;
- Making health care more affordable
and accessible;
- Preparing students for our diverse
economy; and
- Responsible state budgeting.
In addition, I will continue to strongly
advocate on behalf of our senior citizens and the most vulnerable in our
state.
The most important issue facing the Legislature in 2009 will be the
two-year state budget we must write. Our state is currently facing a 5
billion dollar or more deficit. I've always believed the
state must be responsible to the taxpayers that foot the bill. We'll
need to look at the major priorities of government, and make some
difficult decisions.
I always welcome your feedback and make
a point to respond to all your calls, e-mails, letters, and visits.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Maureen Walsh State Representative 16th District (R-Walla Walla)
