Smith receives Business
Champion Award
Joint
chamber meeting, award presentation took place in Everett yesterday
The joint group of
Snohomish County Chambers of Commerce yesterday presented
Rep. Norma Smith with the
2008 Business Champion Award. According to the group's legislative
scorecard, Smith scored 93 percent on the group's key business issues voted on before
the 2008 Legislature, which is the highest score of all state
representatives in the region.
"This award means a great
deal to me. With our economy beginning to struggle in
Washington, we need to make sure we are creating jobs locally by doing
all we can to support our small businesses," said Smith, R-Clinton. "It's an honor
to be recognized for
making it easier for our local businesses to do what they do best --
create jobs."
The Joint Government
Affairs Committee handles public policy issues impacting its respective
Chambers of Commerce. Its primary focus is developing legislative
agendas and advocating positions to the Legislature, while also
considering local, regional and state ballot measures, referenda and
initiatives.
