Rodne selected for
prestigious Henry Toll Fellowship Program
5th District lawmaker just one of 40 leaders
chosen from across the country
State
Rep. Jay Rodne is one of 40 leaders from across the country
selected for the prestigious Henry Toll Fellowship Program. The annual,
week-long program is sponsored by the Council of State Governments (CSG)
and will run from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2 in Lexington, Kentucky.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized as a leader in state government
and be chosen for such a prestigious program,” said Rodne, R-North
Bend. “It’s important lawmakers continue to educate themselves and
apply their knowledge to improving the lives of their constituents
through public policy. The Toll Fellowship Program offers me this
opportunity and I look forward to the experience.”
The program is named in honor of Henry Toll, a Colorado senator who
founded CSG in 1933, and develops leaders from state government. This
year’s program focuses on trend analysis, policy development, media and
constituent relations, and leadership and institutional changes.
Rodne was nominated by state
Attorney General Rob McKenna, with letters of support from
House
Republican Leader Richard DeBolt and his 5th District seatmate
State Rep. Glenn Anderson. He was selected by a committee of
state elected and appointed officials. This year’s applicant pool
included people from 37 states and two U.S. territories.
Rodne, an attorney, has served as a state representative for the
5th District since 2004. Prior to his election to the Washington State
House of Representatives, he served on the Snoqualmie City Council and
chaired its Public Safety Committee. Rodne also serves as a
Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
The CSG is a multi-branch organization forecasting policy trends for the
community of states, commonwealths and territories on a national and
regional basis. It alerts state elected and appointed officials to
emerging social, economic, and political trends; offers innovative state
policy responses to rapidly changing conditions; and advocates
multi-state problem-solving to maximize resources and competitiveness.
