Lammers serves as
legislative page for Rep. Jay Rodne
Rep. Jay Rodne, R-North Bend, recently sponsored Martin
Lammers in the legislative page program in the Washington State House of
Representatives. Martin is a student at Cedar Park Christian School and
is the son of Martin and Susan Lammers of Sammamish.
While in Olympia, page
responsibilities are varied and include delivering messages and
documents to legislators in their offices, in committee meetings and in
the House chambers during floor sessions. In addition to these duties,
students take part in page school where they learn how a bill becomes law. They are also required to continue their studies for two hours
during the day.
"The House page
program is a wonderful
opportunity for young adults and I am happy Martin could be a part of
it," said Rodne. "It is really important
our young men and women understand the legislative process, and the
House page program offers them
an excellent opportunity to learn more about Olympia."
To become a page,
student applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14
and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and schools.
