Rodne appointed ranking
Republican on House Judiciary Committee
5th District
legislator looking forward to working in a bipartisan manner to address
law and justice issues during the 2007 legislative session
Rep. Jay Rodne,
R-Snoqualmie, has been appointed ranking Republican on the House
Judiciary Committee. He was selected by Republican Leader Richard
DeBolt, R-Chehalis.
“I’m honored to be appointed to this leadership position on the House
Judiciary Committee and am looking forward to working with my colleagues
from both sides of the aisle during the 2007 legislative session,” said
Rodne. “I spent a good amount of time talking to constituents this past
year and will be taking their concerns and ideas to the Legislature.”
The House Judiciary
Committee considers a wide variety of subjects relating to civil and
criminal law, including issues involving commercial law, torts, probate,
guardianships, drunk driving, and judicial administration.
“Our communities continue
to suffer from the scourges of drunken driving, auto theft, identity
theft, methamphetamine, and other drugs. I will be focusing on these
areas,” said Rodne. “I look forward to working in a bipartisan fashion
to address these issues – and many others. Much like I did last year
with new sex offender legislation, I plan on working closely with my
fellow committee members, law enforcement personnel, and other
interested stakeholders to solve problems and help our communities.”
Rodne, an attorney in
private practice with the Issaquah law firm of O’Brien, Barton, Wieck &
Joe, graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law.
The 2007 legislative
session begins Jan. 8 and is scheduled to run 105 days.
