Rodne helps form bipartisan
environmental work group
Rep. Jay Rodne,
R-Snoqualmie, has co-founded a bipartisan environmental work group with
a goal of considering and advancing balanced environmental measures in
the Legislature.
The Environmental Roundtable, which was founded by Rodne and Sammamish
residents Gail Twelves and Scott Hamilton, includes ten members of the
Washington State House of Representatives – six Republicans and four
Democrats – and eight members of Northwest environmental groups.
“Everyone has come together, putting party affiliations aside, with the
common goal of bringing forth balanced proposals that protect our
environment while respecting private property rights,” said Rodne. “I
believe that responsible environmental stewardship, respect for private
property rights and a healthy economy can go hand-in-hand.”
Members of the Environmental Roundtable intend to meet during the
legislative session and interim to discuss environmental issues deemed
to be priorities or that need bipartisan support to further progress.
Their goal is to develop a balanced response to environmental issues and
policies.
“While this effort began as a group of concerned legislators and
advocates from the crescent districts in and around Seattle, we very
much want to grow and reach out to everyone across the state – rural and
urban – because their views are valuable and unique,” said Rodne. “I
encourage anyone who is interested in our efforts to contact any one of
us from the group. Whether it is to gather information or express their
opinions, we look forward to working with people from across the state
and all walks of life.”
