Rodne to host community
forum on sex offenders Oct. 25
Rep. Jay Rodne,
R-5th District, will be hosting a community forum on sex offenders on
Tuesday, October 25, from 7-9:00 p.m. The event will be held in the
Eagle Room of the Issaquah Police Station at 130 East Sunset Way.
The general public is welcome to attend and share their ideas with
legislators and state agencies that will be on hand.
“This event is about
listening to people’s concerns and ideas. We’re looking forward to
hearing from the public on this very important issue impacting the
safety of our neighborhoods as we try to craft a comprehensive statewide
response,” said Rodne. “Legislators will also take this opportunity to
provide an overview of the current status of the law regarding sex
offender sentencing, registration, monitoring, and treatment – and
discuss various proposals that may be introduced in the upcoming 2006
legislative session. We’re looking forward to a good, bipartisan
discussion.”
In addition to the general
public, other invitees include: the Attorney General’s Office,
Department of Corrections, King County Sheriff’s Office, Issaquah City
Council, Issaquah Mayor Ava Frisinger, Rep. Al O’Brien (D-1st District),
Rep. Kirk Pearson (R-39th District), Rep. Glenn Anderson (R-5th
District), and Sen. Cheryl Pflug (R-5th District).
