Rodne chosen for House
leadership position
Rep. Jay Rodne,
R-Snoqualmie, was chosen today to be assistant floor leader for the
House Republican Caucus. The 5th District legislator’s duties will
include assisting the floor leader in developing floor strategy, actions
plans, and priorities for the caucus.
“As soon as the election
was over, I turned my attention to the upcoming legislative session and
determining how I can best serve the people of the 5th District,” said
Rodne. “Being chosen for a leadership position in only my second year in
the House is an honor and provides me a unique opportunity to work on
the issues facing my district.”
The 2005 legislative
session begins January 10 and is scheduled for 105 days.
“As I’ve talked to
constituents this past year, I understand the challenges our economy,
schools, health care system, and roadways face. These issues remain my
priorities,” said Rodne. “As assistant floor leader, I will work with
other legislators on policies that will help create jobs, strengthen our
schools, make heath care more affordable, and improve our roadways. It’s
going to be a lot of hard work, but I look forward to the challenge.”
Rodne, an attorney, earned
his J.D. degree cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law, where
he served as executive editor of the Gonzaga Law Review. He is also a
Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and second in command of a
1200-Marine reserve battalion. Rodne and his wife, Heidi, have two
children.
