House honors five-time
Sedro-Woolley wrestling champions
House Resolution 4714 sponsored by 39th District
Reps.
Kirk Pearson and
Dan Kristiansen honoring the 2006 Sedro-Woolley High School
Wrestling Championship Team received adopted February 27 by the House of
Representatives.
Earlier this year, the Class 3A Sedro-Woolley team captured its fifth
consecutive team state championship; a state record tying five
consecutive Class 3A wrestling championships and finishing with a school
record of 197.5, 83 points ahead of the closest competitor.
“Coach Jay Breckenridge should be proud of the tradition he has created
in Sedro-Woolley,” said Pearson. “Wrestling is the world’s oldest and
greatest sport, or so it’s said, and to have our own dynasty of local
high school wrestling champions is an honor to our community and our
state. Coach Breckenridge has done an outstanding job with these young
kids. Not only are they successful in their sport, but they are
achieving high marks in their classes as well. They continue to make
Sedro-Woolley and Skagit County proud. I’m honored to have them
recognized in such a meaningful way.”
“These young people and their coaches have done a great job of
establishing a winning tradition that instills pride in their school and
their community,” said Kristiansen. “It’s appropriate that the
Legislature recognize their continuing achievements as student-athletes,
both individually and as a team.”
Each year, the House offers resolutions honoring outstanding
achievements around the state. This is the fifth year the House has
honored the Sedro-Woolley High School Wrestling Team.
