McCune appointed to
veterans' committee
Rep. Jim McCune will assume a
position on the Joint Veterans’ and Military Affairs Committee. The
committee comprises members from both the House and Senate.
The joint committee was
created in 2001 and studies issues regarding veterans, active military
forces, and National Guard and reserves. Members then make
recommendations to the Legislature.
“I’m honored to be
appointed to this committee,” said McCune, R-Graham. “I believe that our
veterans deserve the best from our government after the sacrifices
they’ve made to keep our country safe.”
McCune’s 2nd Legislative
District encompasses half of Pierce County, including Fort Lewis and
McChord Air Force Base. Veterans from both bases comprise a large
portion of the district’s population.
“I will work hard to
ensure that our veterans get all the benefits they deserve and are
honored for their service,” McCune said. “I firmly believe that
veteran’s issues are important and warrant attention by the
Legislature.”
