Hinkle supports Cle Elum
solar project
'It presents Kittitas
County with the opportunity to bring in family-wage jobs,' says
Hinkle
Rep.
Bill Hinkle, R-Cle Elum, is supporting efforts to create
one of the world's largest solar parks in the hills outside of Cle Elum.
The Teanaway Solar Reserve would generate 75-megawatts of power, enough
electricity to power 45,000 homes.
Hinkle released the following statement, saying he will
work with state and county officials to see the project to completion:
"This project exemplifies what many of us have dreamed of. It
presents Kittitas County with the opportunity to bring in family-wage
jobs, diversify our energy portfolios and get in on the front end of
renewable solar energy. This is clearly a future trend and I feel
blessed that, of all places this project could have been located, it's
coming to us.
"With jobs becoming more scarce and families continuing to struggle to
make ends meet, the possibility of manufacturing jobs coming to our
region is very timely. If the project proves successful, this
could open the door for more manufacturing jobs in the future.
"The solar project, with its low visibility, is a much less
controversial project than some of those we've seen in the past.
I'm excited that this proposal is getting support at all levels and has
an excellent chance of becoming viable in the very near future."
