Hinkle appointed to new
House committees, has new office address
Rep.
Bill Hinkle, R-Cle Elum, will serve on new House committees in
his second term as 13th District legislator. In addition to taking on
responsibilities of Ranking Republican on the Children and Family
Services committee – an assignment announced earlier this month – Hinkle
will also serve on the House Health Care Committee and the influential
House Appropriations Committee.
“Being on these three committees will provide me with even more
opportunities to directly help people in the 13th District,” said
Hinkle. “I will be able to shape legislation and policy around issues
ranging from at-risk youth, to affordable health care, to how our state
spends its money.”
The House Appropriations Committee develops the state’s operating budget
and reviews bills that have a financial impact. The House Health Care
Committee considers legislation relating to accessibility and
affordability of health care in the private health insurance market – an
issue sure to be at the forefront in the 2005 legislative session. It
also considers issues relating to public health programs (such as
Medicaid and the basic health plan), licensing of health care
facilities, credentialing of health care providers, pharmacy regulation,
trauma care centers and public health departments.
“Rural health care – including the mental health delivery system – is in
crisis in Washington,” Hinkle said. “I hope my participation on the
Health Care Committee can help address those issues for people of the
13th District and rest of the state.”
In addition to taking on new committee assignments, Hinkle also has a
new office address:
Rep. Bill Hinkle
MOD 1, Room 102
P.O. Box 40600
Olympia, WA 98504-0600
His Olympia office phone number remains the same at (360) 786-7808, as
does his e-mail address:
Hinkle.Bill@leg.wa.gov.
Hinkle’s new committee assignments take effect when the Legislature
convenes on Jan. 10 in Olympia. His new office address is effective
immediately.
Hinkle encouraged any 13th District constituents who are in the Olympia
area this session to stop by, say hello and check out the renovated and
newly re-opened Legislative Building, the domed building containing the
House and Senate Chambers.
“I always enjoy welcoming constituents who are in the area during the
legislative session,” Hinkle said. “I also encourage you to write,
e-mail or call my office with your concerns or opinions about
legislation before us in 2005. I welcome and depend on your feedback.”
