Haler responds to Department
of Energy's decision on PNNL
Statement from Rep.
Larry Haler, R-Richland, on the Department of Energy's (DOE) decision to
cancel the competition for a new contract for the management of the
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and retain Battelle as the
sole manager until Sept. 30, 2009.
"I am very pleased the DOE
has decided to retain Battelle as the manager of PNNL. The staff and
management of Battelle have done an excellent job overseeing the lab
since 1965, and with more than 4,000 employees, most of whom reside in
the 8th District, Battelle and the
PNNL are integral to the
economy of the Tri-Cities and our community spirit."
