Haler appointed assistant
ranking Republican
for House technology committee
House Republican leaders
announced this week that they have appointed
Rep.
Larry Haler,
R-Richland, assistant ranking Republican for the House Technology,
Energy and Communications Committee. Haler, who represents the 8th
District, began his first term in the House on Jan. 10.
“I’m honored by this
appointment, and look forward to working with Representative Crouse, the
Ranking Republican on the committee,” said Haler. “We’ll be discussing
issues such as energy efficiency and energy standards, computer
technology, and regulations governing telemarketing.”
The House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee considers
access to, deployment, and regulation of technology. It also handles
policy and regulatory issues relating to telecommunications, including
both single and two-way electronic communication; energy availability,
production, and conservation; and infrastructure.
Haler also serves on the Children and Family Services Committee and the
Economic Development, Agriculture and Trade Committee.
“It’s been a busy and exciting first week, and I’ve enjoyed meeting my
colleagues on both sides of the aisle,” said Haler. With regard to the
controversy over the governor’s race, he commented, “I believe that a
revote is in order, but that issue is now in the hands of the courts.
Republicans and Democrats alike, we are all working hard and working
together for the health of our state.”
Haler can be reached at 360-786-7986 or via email at haler.larry@leg.wa.gov.
His address is 403 John L. O’Brien Bldg, P.O. Box 40600, Olympia, WA
98504-0600.
