Rep.
Larry Haler, R-Richland, was sworn in today with the other 97
members of the House of Representatives during opening ceremonies for
the 2005 Legislature.
“I very much appreciate the opportunity to represent the citizens of the
8th District here in Olympia. We have a full plate this session, with
the budget and many other pressing issues to consider. I am up for the
challenge,” said Haler.
House Republicans also recently announced committee assignments. Haler
will serve on the House Children & Family Services Committee, the House
Economic Development, Agriculture & Trade Committee, and the House
Technology, Telecommunications & Energy Committee.
“My committee assignments
complement my legislative priorities very well. There are many pressing
educational issues in our district, many that directly impact children,
families and the developmentally disabled,” Haler explained. “In
addition, we need to bring new family wage jobs to the 8th District.
Being an active member of these committees will enable me to effect a
positive change in our community.”
In addition to being a state representative, Haler is a senior training
specialist for Fluor Hanford Company's Spent Nuclear Fuels Project. He
earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Pacific Lutheran
University in 1974 and his master’s degree in business administration
from City University in 2001. He has lived and worked in Richland for
over 30 years.
Haler’s office in Olympia is open and staffed by Jan Swenson. He can be
