Group will share solutions for state, listen to
citizens' ideas
State House Republicans,
led by
Rep.
Doug Ericksen, will host a health care solutions town hall
meeting at the Bellevue High School
Theatre on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The
group will share its
plan for health care
reform in the state and
listen to the ideas and concerns of citizens. Details of the event
are below.
Bellevue High School Theatre
10416 Wolverine Way Bellevue, WA 98004
Tuesday, Sept. 29 --
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
No RSVP
required.
"As the national health care debate continues, we want to provide
solutions that would address our state's problems. Our
plan focuses on fixing what is broken, and leaving what works in
place," said Ericksen, lead Republican on the House
Health Care and Wellness Committee. "Our goals are to lower
costs, increase access and provide choices for health care, while fixing the state’s safety net
for our most vulnerable citizens. We feel these goals could be met if we break from business as usual in Olympia.
We simply cannot continue on the same path and expect different results."
Some of the House Republican health care solutions include:
-
allowing for
tailored health care plans that
meet the needs and budgets of
young adults ages 19 to 34;
-
the purchasing of health
care plans approved in
other states;
-
new health
care
choices for small employers;
-
reforming the state's
Basic Health Plan;
and
-
comprehensive
medical malpractice reform.
Ericksen, R-Ferndale, is sharing health care
solutions in events around the state. He has led town hall
meetings in
Bellingham,
Richland and
Yakima, and plans to host
future
events in Burlington (Oct. 5) and Spokane (Oct. 7 and 17).
