number two position in House Republican Caucus
State Rep. Doug Ericksen,
R-Ferndale, was chosen by his peers today to be Deputy Leader of the
House Republican Caucus. The 42nd District legislator’s duties will
include developing policy, determining priorities for the caucus and
leading constituent and media outreach efforts.
“As soon as voters said
they wanted me back in Olympia, I turned my attention to the upcoming
legislative session and how I can best serve Whatcom County,” said
Ericksen. “I am humbled that my peers have entrusted me with their
confidence and I look forward to bringing Whatcom County values to this
leadership position and giving our community a strong voice at the table
in Olympia.”
Deputy Leader is the
second highest position in the House Republican Caucus. Rep. Richard
DeBolt, R-Chehalis, was chosen as Republican Leader today.
Ericksen is serving his
fifth term representing the 42nd District, which includes Ferndale,
Lynden, Blaine, Sumas, Everson, Deming, Birch Bay, parts of Bellingham,

University and a master’s degree from Western Washington University.
