Ericksen to visit Taiwan
(ROC) to meet with
business and
political leaders
Rep. Doug Ericksen,
R-Ferndale, is heading to Taiwan (ROC) March 25-31 with a Washington and
Oregon trade delegation. The group will meet with Taiwan (ROC) business
and political leaders to discuss trade and cultural issues between the
two countries.
Ericksen, House Republican Floor Leader, sees an opportunity to enhance
cultural relationships on the trip and wants to solidify the trade
bridge that currently exists.
“The United States is Taiwan’s largest foreign investor and one of its
most important trading partners – and Washington state plays an
important role in these relations,” said Ericksen. “My goal is to help
solidify trade and cultural relations with business and political
leaders of Taiwan.”
Taiwan (ROC), a country of
around 23 million people, is known for its literate and industrious
people, beautiful lands, national museum and important relations with
the United States.
“One of my goals is to set up a visit this summer to Whatcom County with
Taiwan business and political leaders,” said Ericksen. “I see great
potential in this relationship and the products our state has to offer
the people of Taiwan.”
Ericksen will be joined by House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt,
R-Chehalis, Sen. Jerome Delvin, R-Richland, Sen. Charlie Ringo (Oregon
Senate), Sen. Jeffery Kruse (Oregon Senate), Rep. Dave Hunt (Oregon
House of Representatives), Rep. John Lim (Oregon House of
Representatives), Rep. Tom Butler (Oregon House of Representatives), and
Kenyon Butler of Oregon. The trip will not come at any expense to
Washington taxpayers.
