Rep. Ericksen's statement on
House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee action on House
Bill 2348
“I’d like to personally
thank House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee Chairman
Jeff Morris and other fellow representatives on the committee for their
prompt and important action on House Bill 2348. The committee took the
extraordinary step of hearing the bill and voting it out of committee on
the same day. As a sponsor of this bill, I look forward to seeing it
work its way through the legislative process and signed into law. This
legislation is important to the 42nd District and other people across
the state, and I appreciate the committee members’ recognition of this
fact.”
House Bill 2348 extends a number of tax incentives provided to firms in
the aluminum smelting industry until 2012. Under current law, these tax
incentives are scheduled to expire January 1, 2007.
The House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee considers the
deployment and regulation of, and access to, technology; policy and
regulatory issues relating to electronic communications; energy
availability, production, and conservation; and infrastructure issues
relating to matters which come before the committee.
