Ericksen to tour district
Monday to talk agriculture, transportation
Rep. Doug Ericksen,
R-Ferndale, will visit Lynden on Monday to discuss important
agricultural and transportation issues for the 42nd District. He will
meet with district leaders in the agricultural community, city
government, Washington State Department of Transportation, and
Washington State Patrol, among others.
“It’s always nice talking
directly with leaders of the 42nd District on issues vital to our area,”
said Ericksen. “We have a lot to cover in a short time – and I look
forward to the opportunity.”
One of the issues
addressed on the tour will be agriculture, including farm implements.
“I’ve sponsored House Bill 1117, which would increase the highway weight
limit for farm implements that transport dairy nutrients,” said
Ericksen. “We all know how important agriculture and transportation are
to Whatcom County’s economic vitality.”
Ericksen will also be
meeting with officials to discuss the Guide Meridian Road project and
its impact on local businesses.
“I’m doing all I can in
Olympia to assure the Guide Meridian Road project remains a top priority
for the Washington State Department of Transportation. In addition to
being the main arterial for Whatcom County, this roadway will
accommodate the visitors we expect for the 2010 Winter Olympics,” said
Ericksen. “This important project should be completed by 2009.”
