Cummings serves in page
program
PAGE RELEASE
Josie Cummings, a 14-year
old student at Chehalis Middle School, recently served as a legislative page in
the House of Representatives. She was sponsored by
Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis.
Cummings is the daughter
of Brian and Stacey Cummings.
"It was a pleasure to sponsor Josie as a legislative page,"
DeBolt said. "Pages are provided the opportunity
to learn first hand about the legislative process while in Olympia."
Page
duties are varied and include delivering bills, floor calendars and
other documents to legislators in their offices. Students are required
to continue their studies for two hours during the day, and attend page
school where they participate in a mock legislative session and learn
how to write a bill.
To become a page,
applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14
and 16. Additionally, pages are required to obtain written permission
from their parents and school.
