DeBolt sponsors Olympia teen for page program
PAGE RELEASE

Mary Castrejon, a 15-year old student at Olympia Christian School, recently served as a legislative page in the House of Representatives.  She was sponsored by Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis. Castrejon is the daughter of Vicente and Judy Castrejon.

"I was pleased to sponsor Mary as a legislative page," DeBolt said.  "It is important that our young adults experience the Legislature in action and become involved in the legislative process. They are our future community leaders."

As a page, Mary was responsible for delivering messages and documents to legislators in their offices, committee meetings and the House chamber during legislative sessions.  Students are also required to continue their studies for two hours during the day.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. Additionally, pages are required to obtain written permission from their parents and school.
