Olympia boy serves as page
to House Minority Leader
15-year-old Garrett A
Ledesma of Olympia served as a page to House Minority Leader
Richard DeBolt last week in the Washington State Legislature.
“Garrett did a terrific job for us during one of the most hectic weeks
of the legislative session,” DeBolt said. “That was the week for cut-off
to pass bills in the House of origin, and that means a lot of pressure
and a lot of hours for young people who are just beginning to learn how
the Legislature works.”
Garrett is home schooled by his parents, Tony and Patti Ledesma.
Page duties range from ceremonial tasks such as presenting the flags, to
operational chores like distributing amendments during legislative
sessions. Each job is vital to the efficient operation of the
Legislature.
“The goal is to have students return to their communities with a better
understanding of the legislative process and share their experience with
classmates,” DeBolt said.
