Crouse will again lead
Republicans on
House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee
4th District legislator wants to make sure infrastructure is
in place to support state’s diversifying economy
Rep. Larry Crouse,
R-Spokane Valley, has again been named ranking Republican of the House
Technology, Energy and Communications Committee. He has held the
position since 1997.
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with my Democratic and
Republican peers on comprehensive solutions for our state’s most serious
problems,” said Crouse. “With the way our state continues to diversify
economically, it’s important to have a strong infrastructure in place to
meet our communication and technological needs.”
The House Technology, Energy and Communications Committee considers
access to, deployment, and regulation of technology. It also handles
policy and regulatory issues relating to telecommunications, including
both single and two-way electronic communication; energy availability,
production, and conservation; and infrastructure.
“We need to continue to encourage new energy production and strategies
in our state,” said Crouse. “I’m honored that my Republican colleagues
have trusted me to lead them in these efforts.”
Crouse brings a lot of experience to his position. The seven-term
legislator has been a member of the committee since 1995.
Rep. Jeff Morris, D-Mount Vernon, will be chair of the committee.
The 2007 legislative session begins Jan. 8 and is scheduled to run 105
days.
