Condotta appointed Ranking
Republican on key House committee
Wenatchee lawmaker
Rep. Cary Condotta has once again been appointed as Ranking Republican
member of the powerful Commerce and Labor Committee in the Washington
State House of Representatives.
The Commerce and Labor Committee considers all types of labor-related
issues, including workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, minimum
wage, collective bargaining and workplace conditions. It also considers
legislation related to business regulation, gambling activity and
liquor.
“Main street, family-owned businesses and family farms are some of the
most important economic drivers in our state, and the primary drivers in
the twelfth district,” said Condotta. “As a small-business owner for
over 25 years and having served as the ranking member on the House
Commerce and Labor Committee the past two years, I understand the
challenges employers face in our state. My goal as part of the committee
is to make it easier for our state’s employers to grow and expand jobs
in communities around the state.”
As the Ranking Republican on the House Commerce and Labor Committee
during the 2006 legislative session, Rep. Condotta was the lead
negotiator for the House Republicans on the historic unemployment
insurance reform legislation and Health Savings Account legislation,
which were both signed into law.
