Dear friends and neighbors,

Thank you for the honor of serving as your state representative. In an effort to directly connect with my constituents, I would like to send out this e-newsletter periodically to update you on what is happening in the Legislature. Also, please feel free to forward my e-newsletter to your friends, neighbors and colleagues.

This week is “Water Week” in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. We’ll be holding public hearings on several proposals that deal with water use and resources.

On Thursday, Jan. 29, at 8 a.m. the following bills will be discussed:

House Bill 1091: limiting stock watering
House Bill 1179: requiring a permit for using groundwater for watering a lawn
House Bill 1266: sufficient cause for the non-use of water
House Bill 1267: addressing non-use of water
House Bill 1268: prevents water relinquishment if water right holder uses a portion of right
House Bill 1269: defining crop rotation
House Bill 1334: Columbia & Snake water resource management
House Bill 1489: water resource management

If these issues are important to you, I encourage you to testify at this hearing or send your comments to me and I will get them to the committee chair. This year, I serve as ranking Republican on the Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee, and I have proposed several of my own bills for consideration.

Please feel free to contact me about these or any other issue that is important to you. My contact information is at the top.

Rep. Bruce Chandler
15th District State Representative
