Goldendale High
School student pages in Olympia
Sophomore Jackielynn
Miller paged in the House of Representatives this week, April 13-17. She
was sponsored by her 15th District state representative,
Bruce Chandler,
R-Granger. Miller is the daughter of Vince Miller of Goldendale and
Dorinda Cameron of Renton.
During her week in Olympia, Miller
attended page school to learn about the legislative process, assisted
legislators on the House floor, and delivered documents amongst the
buildings on the capitol campus.
"I'm glad Jackielynn had the
opportunity to come to Olympia to not only study, but be involved in her
state government," Chandler said. "I hope her time here has piqued her
curiosity in civic involvement in the future."
Since 1891, students from
around the state have applied to participate in the legislative page program.
Pages earn $35 for each day they serve in the program.
Interested
students must be between the ages of 14 and 16, have permission from
their school and a parent, and be sponsored by a legislator. For more
