Stevenson
student pages in the House of Representatives
Stevenson High School
student Ellyn Hodgin paged in Olympia this week in the House of
Representatives.
She was sponsored by her 15th District State Representative,
Bruce
Chandler, R-Granger.
Hodgin is a 15-year-old who wants to study forensics and science after
graduation. She is the daughter of
Laura and Stanley Hodgin of Skamania.
Hodgin stayed with a host family in Olympia while she was away from home this week.
"I was in Youth and Government last year, so I knew my way around
the Capitol, but this week I learned a lot more about legislation and
the process here in Olympia," Hodgin said.
Her duties included running errands for representatives, carrying notes
and important documents between legislators, serving on the House floor and attending daily page
school.
Hodgin drafted a mock bill this week that dealt with revenue and fiscal
matters for the state dealing with a $6 billion budget shortfall.
She said she will recommend the House Page Program to her classmates
when she gets home.
For more information about the program, visit:

Interested students between the ages of 14 and 16 must have permission
from their school and parents, and must complete an
application with a legislative sponsor.
