House lawmakers to honor Oak Harbor Wildcats
football team
Resolution by Rep. Bailey lauds football champs
Oak Harbor High School
Wildcats football coach Dave Ward and his football team have been
invited to the state Capitol to be honored Wednesday in a resolution
offered by
Rep.
Barbara Bailey.
The legislation recognizes
the football team for "extraordinary excellence in winning the 2006
Class 4A State Football Playoffs." The team played Dec. 2 in the Tacoma
Dome against the Bothell Cougars, beating them 21-14. The victory earned
Oak Harbor High School its first state title.
"These young men played
their hearts out in some very difficult games. They and Coach Ward have
definitely earned the title of state champions. This resolution honors
them for their outstanding achievement on the gridiron," said Bailey,
R-Oak Harbor.
The resolution will be
considered by the House of Representatives when lawmakers convene at 10
a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.
