House approves millions for
10th District public works projects
The 10th Legislative
District is slated to receive more than $10.6 million in low-interest
and interest-free loans for local water and sewer projects under a bill
passed last week in the House of Representatives, says
Rep. Barbara Bailey, R-Oak Harbor.
House Bill 2337 contains a funding list of 35 local government
infrastructure projects statewide, totaling $128.4 million, including
four projects within the 10th District.
"These loans are provided through the state’s Public Works Trust Fund
program to cities and counties that have demonstrated a need for water
and sewer improvements. The projects approved for our local area will
improve our local infrastructure and provide jobs for our local
economy," said Bailey.
The measure provides $2,694,500 for replacement and expansion of a water
line just outside of Oak Harbor along Highway 20 between Pass Lake and
Sharpe’s Corner.
"This will allow for the expansion and completion of the Highway 20
safety project to Deception Pass," noted Bailey.
The bill includes two projects for Stanwood: nearly $3.2 million for the
Bryant Well Treatment water project and just over $2 million for
expansion of a sewer line along 271st Street Northwest.
In addition, $1 million is allocated to modify the existing wastewater
plant for the Holmes Harbor sewer district.
The measure gained unanimous approval in the House and has been referred
to the Senate Ways and Means Committee for further consideration.
