Rep. Bailey to outline 2005 legislative session to
local chamber groups

Tenth District citizens will have an opportunity next week to ask questions of Rep. Barbara Bailey and to hear the outcome of the recently-concluded 2005 legislative session.

Bailey is scheduled to speak about the session to the chambers of commerce in Stanwood, Oak Harbor and Freeland.

"This is an opportunity to be in contact with community leaders and citizens from throughout the district to let them know what happened during session that will affect their lives and to hear about the issues impacting them," said Bailey, R-Oak Harbor.

"I think it will be a real eye opener for people to learn that the 2005 legislative session was not as rosy as some might portray. Unfortunately, citizens will be paying more taxes, more regulations have been heaped upon businesses, and little was done to control the costs of health care," added Bailey. "It’s important for people to understand what happened in this session so that we can work together to make changes in the future."

The chamber meetings are open to the public and Bailey encourages citizens to attend and ask questions. The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, June 14 - noon - Stanwood Chamber of Commerce: Merrill Garden Assisted Living Center, 7212 265th Street N.W., Stanwood. Phone: (360) 629-4304

  • Thursday, June 16 - 11:30 a.m. - Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce: CPO Club, Ault Field Road, Oak Harbor. Phone: (360) 675-3755

  • Thursday, June 16 - 6 p.m. - Freeland Chamber of Commerce: M Bar C Ranch, Shore Meadows Road, Freeland. Phone: (360) 331-1346

"It’s a legislative report, but more importantly, a chance to listen to people’s concerns and ideas. I’d like to invite everyone to attend and bring their questions and suggestions," concluded Bailey.

To make reservations to attend, call the chamber offices at the numbers listed above. For more information, contact Rep. Bailey’s Olympia office at (360) 786-7914.
