Bailey to continue as lead
Republican on
House Health Care Committee
House Minority Leader Rep.
Bruce Chandler today announced that
Rep. Barbara Bailey, R-Oak Harbor,
has been selected to continue as ranking Republican member on the House
Health Care Committee when the Legislature convenes Jan. 10 in Olympia.
"This is a great honor and I feel very fortunate to once again be
selected to lead our caucus on this committee. Health care is one of the
most important issues in our state – especially access to affordable
health care for families, children, senior citizens and the most
vulnerable," said Bailey.
"I think it is really important as we go into the 2005 legislative
session in January that we work to reduce costs of our health care
delivery system without jeopardizing people’s choices. We also need to
keep a reasonable safety net available for those who are indigent, frail
and vulnerable," added Bailey. "My priority on this committee will be to
work for access, affordability, and foster more choices in health
programs, medical insurance, and long-term care."
Bailey, who was recently re-elected to her second term in office, was
first chosen last January to serve as the lead Republican on the House
Health Care Committee.
