Armstrong to hold 12th District telephone town
hall meeting
New technology allows citizens to participate from
their homes
With less than a week
remaining of the 2008 legislative session,
Rep. Mike
Armstrong is holding a
telephone town hall meeting, Monday, March 10, to hear from citizens
about issues affecting the 12th Legislative District.
The telephone town hall
meeting utilizes new technology in which people will be able to discuss
legislative issues with Armstrong without leaving the comfort of their
homes.
"I'm very interested in
hearing from the folks back home as we take our final votes in Olympia
before the 60-day session concludes. Thanks to this new technology, I'll
be able to talk with people throughout the district from an office here
at the state Capitol," said Armstrong. "I'm very excited about the
opportunity to connect with local citizens at this very important time
in the session."
Beginning at 7 p.m.,
Monday, calls will be made to thousands of residents throughout
the 12th District. People will have the option of joining the
teleconference or they can leave a message for Armstrong. Those who stay
on the line will have the option of pressing Star 3 on their telephone
keypad to "go live" with Armstrong.
"It's very much like a
call-in radio talk show. Participants will have complete control over
how they choose to take part in the forum, and how long they would like to stay
connected. It also gives folks a convenient way
to communicate directly with me about issues important to them," added
Armstrong.
Although calls will go out
to the district, Armstrong said anyone who would like to dial in to the
conference may do so between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday by using a
toll-free number: 1-866-447-5149 (enter PIN: 13562).
