House approves funds for
12th District public works projects
More than $8 million for
water and sewer projects within the 12th Legislative District is
included in legislation approved by the House of Representatives,
Rep. Mike
Armstrong announced today.
Under House Bill 2337, the Malaga Water District would receive
$1,064,950 in a low-interest loan for the design and construction of two
pump stations, a 60,000-gallon reservoir, nearly 11,000 feet of
transmission and distribution main pipelines, a pressure-reducing
system, and other water system improvements.
The bill also includes a $7 million loan for a sewer project in Okanogan
County, including construction, right-of-way acquisition, lift stations,
and treatment plant and water system improvements.
Armstrong said the money is made available through low-interest or
interest-free loans under the state’s Public Works Trust Fund program.
"These projects will improve our local infrastructure and provide jobs
that will help our local economy," said Armstrong, R-Wenatchee. "The
loans are provided through the state’s public works assistance account
to cities and counties that have demonstrated a need for water and sewer
improvements. It’s a very good program that helps our local
communities."
HB 2337 includes 35 projects throughout Washington totaling $128.4
million.
The measure was approved unanimously last week in the House of
Representatives. It is currently under consideration in the Senate Ways
and Means Committee.
