Legislature approves
funding for important local projects
State capital budget includes several 5th District projects
The state’s capital budget
was approved today in the Legislature and now heads to the governor’s
desk where it is expected to be signed into law. It provides over $20
million for projects for the 5th District, including $5.4 million for
Echo Glen Children’s Center and local economic development
opportunities.
The state capital budget pays for construction and repair of public
buildings and long-term investments such as land acquisitions and
transfers.
“I’m very happy that we were able to secure funding for so many local
projects that are vital to our district and region. This was a true
partnership in that many people worked hard at the local level to help
make this state funding a reality. I’d like to thank these people for
their time and dedication,” said
Rep. Jay Rodne, R-North Bend. “I
am excited about the scope of projects that we were able to fund
throughout our district such as the Northwest Railway Museum in
Snoqualmie, the Village Theatre in Issaquah, and the Lake Wilderness
Lodge and Conference Center in Maple Valley, which all add vitality and
character to our local communities.”
“These are projects that build a community – literally and
figuratively,” said
Rep. Glenn Anderson, R-Fall City. “The
capital budget funds projects that create gathering centers for families
and visitors. This budget allocated to our district reflects a balance
of needs between recreation, infrastructure and local youth and
community centers. We have more work to do, but this is a good start.”
