5th District legislators
honored with coveted
AWB Cornerstone Award
Reps.
Glenn Anderson,
R-Fall City, and Jay Rodne, R-Snoqualmie, were presented the coveted
Association of Washington Business (AWB) Cornerstone Award on November 9
for their continuous support of business issues in the Legislature.
“This award means a lot of
things to me, but mostly it means supporting the hard-working business
owners and employees here in my home district. As legislators, we can
either create government policy that smothers job creation or we can
create an environment that lets employers grow jobs and expand in our
communities. It’s truly that simple,” Anderson said.
Each year, legislators are
graded on their support legislation that creates jobs, lowers the
regulatory burden and aims at luring new businesses and jobs to the
state.
“The Cornerstone Award is
our way of thanking those legislators who believe in competitiveness,
economic growth and job creation,” AWB President Don Brunell said.
In order to receive the
award, legislators must vote in support of the business community more
than 80 percent of the time.
“Working to create jobs and grow the economy in our region is one of my
top priorities. I’m honored to be recognized for my strong support of
pro-business ideas in the Legislature and want to thank all those people
who participated in the process. I look forward to continuing to support
concepts that create and preserve jobs and help in our economy’s
recovery,” said Rodne.
“Washington needs
legislators who understand how important competitiveness is to the
success of our state,” Brunell said. “The recipients of this award not
only understand this concept, they work diligently to ensure that
Washington is good place to conduct business, that businesses incur a
smaller amount of the tax burden, and that we keep jobs in the state.”
