The Legislature continues to face a
number of challenges, but I maintain that there are three key objectives
that we must always keep top of mind in order to restore the public’s
trust in government:
- Manage tax dollars in a responsible
manner to make sure that government lives within its means;
- Maintain the integrity of state
agencies through accountability and taxpayer protection; and,
- Create a world-class education
system.
If we keep our sights set on these goals,
we can prove to be an effective instrument for citizens -- many of whom
have lost confidence in government’s ability to address critical issues
facing families and businesses.
