Biography
A life-long Washingtonian, Shelly
is serving her first term representing the 7th District which
includes Ferry, Lincoln, Pend Oreille and Stevens counties and
parts of Okanogan and Spokane counties.
Shelly has spent the past 14 years as a key staffer for state
and federal officials. She has an in-depth knowledge of
energy policies having worked on local hydro relicensing and
Bonneville power issues.
In the Legislature, Shelly was
chosen by her colleagues as ranking Republican on the House
Ecology and Parks Committee, a rare feat for an incoming
freshman legislator. She also sits on the General
Government and Appropriations, Local Government and Housing, and
the Audit Review and Oversight committees.
Short is a
leader on energy issues and has been appointed to several key
task forces including the Clean Energy Leadership Council, the
Legislative Energy Horizon Institute, and the Ecosystem
Coordination Board. She is a recognized local and national
leader on climate change and cap-and-trade issues.
Shelly is a 4-H leader, participates in the Colville Valley
Gymkhana Club and enjoys skeet shooting, canoeing, swimming and
gardening. She and her husband, Mitch, live in Addy with their
two children, Trevor and Brianna. |
