Michael Ramsey, a freshman at Naches Valley High School, paged March 2-6 at the state Capitol in Olympia. He was sponsored by his 14th District state representative, Charles Ross, R-Naches. Ramsey is the son of Carl and Christine Ramsey of Naches. Ross is friends with the Ramsey family. During his week in Olympia, he stayed with a host family and attended page school each day. He also assisted legislators on the floor of the House and delivered documents around the campus. "I hope Michael's week here in Olympia was memorable and got him interested in government," Ross said. "I was told Michael was amazed at the amount of work we do here. The page program is a great opportunity for students to do more than just visit the Capitol; they get hands-on experience in the legislative process and they learn how anyone can get involved." Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the legislative page program. Pages earn $35 for each day they serve in the program. Interested students must be between the ages of 14 and 16, have permission from their school and a parent, and be sponsored by a legislator.
