Ross says Newhouse appointment
'speaks volumes to his dedication' to agriculture

Rep. Charles Ross, R-Naches, today commented on the appointment of Rep. Dan Newhouse as director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture:

"Dan will be an amazing asset to the Agriculture Department and to the governor. The fact that she picked a Republican lawmaker speaks volumes to the respect so many people have for him and his knowledge on agricultural issues.

"As assistant floor leader, I have had the privilege of working closely with Dan. He will be missed. He has been a wonderful mentor and has given me great insight into being an effective legislator.

"The Newhouse name in Central Washington is synonymous with not just the Legislature, but also a history of successful farming. Dan understands the needs and issues facing farmers and the related industries, and I'm excited for what he can accomplish in his new position."
