S.R. 501/I-5 interchange in
Ridgefield scheduled to get $10 million from federal fiscal stimulus
package
Rep. Herrera helping to move project forward at
state level
The State Route
501/Interstate 5 interchange in Ridgefield is scheduled to receive $10
million in funding from the recently approved federal fiscal stimulus
package. This funding would be in addition to $24 million of
funding already in place from federal, state and local sources, and
would allow construction to begin on the interchange.
"I'm
excited that this important and shovel-ready project is moving forward.
In tough economic times, we must focus on improving our infrastructure,
creating jobs and addressing the concerns of our business community," said Rep. Jaime Herrera, R-Ridgefield.
"I’ve been working with Democratic Transportation Chair Judy Clibborn, the
City of Ridgefield and my colleagues in the Legislature to ensure the
promised funding of this project is kept. Now we must ensure the project
stays on track."
In her work to
preserve funding for the project, Herrera helped
amend the 2007 state transportation budget to keep the funding, met with Rep.
Judy Clibborn and city officials, and wrote a formal letter to Clibborn.
