East Wenatchee
teens serve together as Armstrong's pages Mayte Garcia and Nicole Reeves, freshmen students at Eastmont High School, recently served together as legislative pages in the Washington House of Representatives. They were sponsored by Rep. Mike Armstrong, R-Wenatchee. As pages, Mayte and Nicole observed the Legislature in action and were responsible for delivering messages and documents to legislators in their offices, committee meetings and the House chamber during floor sessions. They also continued their studies for two hours during the day in the legislative page school. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. Additionally, pages are required to hold a grade-point average of C+ or better, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Mayte and Nicole are 16 years old. Mayte is the daughter of Pedro and Eli Ramirez. Nicole is the daughter of Tari Ayla. Both reside in East Wenatchee.
