Klippert appointed to
veterans' affairs committee
'I will work hard to provide a strong voice on
this committee for our veterans'
Rep. Brad Klippert
has been appointed to serve on the Joint Committee on Veterans' and
Military Affairs. The committee comprised members from both the House
and Senate.
Klippert, a helicopter
pilot who was recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel, has
served more than 21 years in the Army National Guard and Reserve.
"Our national security, as
well as the safety and security of our citizens, are extremely important
to me. I'm very appreciative of our veterans who stood in defense of our
freedom. It's important we give them the support they need as they
return home from their valued service to the nation," said Klippert,
R-Kennewick.
The joint committee was
created in 2001 and reviews veterans' issues and programs, matters
affecting active military forces, the National Guard and Reserves,
examines current laws, and makes policy recommendations to the
Legislature. The committee also studies the structure and administration
of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs and the military
department.
"It is an honor to be
appointed to this committee," added Klippert. "I will work hard to
provide a strong voice on this committee for our veterans and their
families to ensure their issues get the full attention of the
Legislature."
Klippert, a Benton County
deputy sheriff, is serving his first term in the House, representing the
8th Legislative District.
