Bailey encourages high
school juniors to consider Washington Aerospace Scholars program
Application deadline is Nov. 6
Rep.
Barbara Bailey is encouraging high school juniors to
consider applying for the NASA-designed, Web-based
Washington Aerospace Scholars program. The application deadline is
Nov. 6.
The Washington Aerospace Scholars program emphasizes
science, technology, engineering, and math, and is divided into two
components – an online curriculum and a summer residency in Seattle.
There is no cost to students who are accepted.
"The Washington
Aerospace Scholars program is an exciting experience for high school
juniors. Students have an opportunity to interface with history
exploration, virtual reality models, The Museum of Flight, and experts
in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math," said
Bailey, R-Oak Harbor. "Time is running out to apply, so
I am encouraging interested students and parents to contact me if they
have any questions."
To participate, student applicants must be:
-
U.S. citizens;
-
Washington state
residents;
-
able to access the
Internet;
-
interested in science,
technology, engineering and/or math;
-
currently juniors in
high school with minimum cumulative GPAs of 3.0; and
-
committed to
completing online lessons to qualify for a six-day residential
summer experience.
