Lakewood High School student serves as
page for Rep. Barbara Bailey
Jordan Wessell spends a week in the Washington
State House of Representatives
Jordan Wessell
served as a page in the Washington State House of
Representatives, March 29 to April 3. She was sponsored by
Rep. Barbara
Bailey, R-Oak Harbor.
Jordan, 16, is the daughter of
Lisa Blowers of
Arlington and granddaughter of Paul Blowers. She is a sophomore at Lakewood High School.
Jordan's responsibilities included delivering messages and documents to
legislators and legislative assistants, committee meetings and House
chambers. She also spent time in the legislative page school learning
about state government.
Young men
and women have come to Olympia to serve as pages for the Washington
State Legislature since 1891. Pages must obtain permission from their
parents and schools, and many stay with volunteer host
families in Thurston County.
