Gage Gunter spends a week in Olympia
Gage Gunter recently
served as a page in the state House of
Representatives, March 16-20. He was sponsored by
Rep. Barbara
Bailey.
Gage, 16, is the son of Wyllie and Michelle
Gunter of
Camano Island. He is a sophomore at Hillcreek Christian High School.
Gage's responsibilities included delivering messages and documents to
legislators and legislative assistants, committee meetings and House
chambers. He also spent time in the legislative page school learning
about state government.
Young men
and women have come to Olympia to serve as pages for the Washington
State Legislature since 1891. Pages must obtain permission from their
parents and schools, and many stay with volunteer host
families in Thurston County.
